5 Side Hustles to Help You Save for Your Dream Cleaning Service

You’ve always wanted to try a cleaning from Cardinal Cleaning, but you just don’t have the money to do it yet. The good news is that there are plenty of side hustles that can help you slowly save the cash you need to purchase your dream cleaning from us. These include jobs like babysitting, dog walking, doing odd jobs around town, or helping people organize their closets and garages. But, we take it a step further and describe more creative and up-and-coming jobs too! In this post, we will explore some of these side hustles, so that saving up for that deep cleaning of your home doesn’t seem quite so impossible anymore!

1) Start an Etsy Store

If you’re creative and crafty, why not start an Etsy store? You can sell handmade goods, vintage finds, and more. Plus, it’s a great way to make some extra cash to help save for your cleaning service. Here are a few tips to get started:

  1. Visit the Etsy website to learn about becoming a seller.
  2. Sign up for Etsy with your email address, password, and phone number.
  3. Upload photos of the items you plan on selling.
  4. Set up prices and shipping fees.
  5. Start posting listings with clear descriptions of what you have to offer.

If you are able to design digital products like Canva templates, greeting cards, or something similar, that would be even better to generate passive income since you would only have to design it once but could sell the PDF over and over again!

2) Research Studies and Surveys

You can participate in research studies and surveys near you for some extra cash! A great way to find such research studies is to sign up on market research and consumer research sites. College campuses nearby also have several opportunities as such.

Next, you can also opt for surveys, but these are not as large sums of cash at once. Instead, they will add up slowly. But, surveys are still a good idea as you can do them from any digital device from any place. Get paid to give your opinion!

3) Invest in Social Media

If you’re looking for a creative and affordable way to grow your personal brand and make some extra money, why not start with social media? With a little time and effort, you can grow your social media accounts and reach new potential customers for your small business or unique products.

You can also create user-generated content and advertisements for companies and get paid for the content you provide them! Another similar technique is going viral several times and being invited to join the creator fund. Several platforms like TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and even Instagram, offer bonuses for viral content and completing challenges after you have reached a certain amount of followers and engagement.

Look into these up-and-coming trends and you are likely to find something you not only can make money from but also something you can enjoy!

4) Offer Babysitting, Pet Sitting & Other Neighborhood Services

Have you ever considered offering your services as a baby or pet sitter? If you love spending time with animals and children, this could be the perfect way to make some extra money. Plus, you get to choose the days you work as well as the rate you charge. Apps like Rover are great for finding leads to pet sit and just talking with neighbors and networking will help in finding leads to babysit!

You can also do other neighborly services. If you have a lawn mower and some basic landscaping equipment, you could start your own lawn care business. This is a great way to make some extra money during the summer months. Just be sure to advertise your services in your neighborhood and online.

Finally, do odd jobs for neighbors! From shoveling snow to painting fences, there are always odd jobs that need to be done around the neighborhood. You can help organize someone’s home or help them pack boxes to move out!

5) Sell Old Clothes

Have a garage sale, sell items online, or take them to a consignment shop. This is a great way to get rid of old clothes and things you no longer need and make some extra cash.

Doesn’t fit? Not your style anymore? Running out of room in your closet? Sell stuff online. If you’re handy with a phone camera, it’s possible to make some cash selling clothes online, too. Posting a few high-quality photos on apps like eBay, Poshmark and Mercari can net you some sales quickly! If you are able to write good, detailed descriptions, your items will sell even faster. This is a great way to make some of your money back while cleaning out!

There are many factors in play when deciding which side hustle will work best for you. If you are not very tech savvy or just don’t want to invest that kind of time, you can also just have a one-day garage sale or take your clothes and accessories to a consignment shop. Some include Plato’s Closet, Uptown Cheapskate, and Kid to Kid. There are also other local alternatives. Find what works for you!

5 Tips on How to Keep Your Carpet Clean

Carpets are an essential part of any home because they provide excellent insulation and padding underfoot, while also adding aesthetic value to the room. However, carpets can harbor dust, dirt, bacteria, pet dander, and mold spores, which can negatively affect your health if you inhale or ingest them. Regularly cleaning your carpet can prevent this from happening and keep it looking great as well. Here are five tips from Cardinal Cleaning on how to keep your carpet clean and elevate its lifespan!

Invest in mats and rugs.

One way to help keep your carpets clean is to invest in mats and rugs. By doing this, you can help trap dirt and other debris before it has a chance to get on your carpets. Plus, it’s an easy way to add a bit of style to your home. You could use area rugs as a way to tie your living room together or as decoration. But don’t stop there – you could also use area rugs under furniture such as the sofa or dining table. It will act as another layer of protection for those areas that are more susceptible to wear and tear due to constant use.

Vacuum regularly!

The single most important thing you can do to keep your carpets clean is to vacuum them regularly. At least once a week, if not more. This will help remove the dirt, dust, and other debris that can get trapped in the fibers and lead to long-term damage.

But don’t just go over the surface! Be sure to move your vacuum back and forth in different directions, and even go over each section multiple times. This will help ensure that you’re really getting all the dirt out.

Speaking of vacuuming, it is crucial that you invest in a quality vacuum! So if you’re still using a hand-me-down vacuum or one that’s getting rusty, it’s time to make the switch to a newer, technologically advanced alternative. The last thing you want to do is have an old vacuum that doesn’t work as well because it will just make your carpet dirtier. A good quality vacuum will also give your carpet the deep cleaning it needs. If this sounds like something you need, be sure to buy one soon because the longer you wait, the more dirt gets ground into your carpet!

Get rid of spills quickly!

As soon as something is spilled on your carpet, it’s important to take care of it right away. The longer a spill sits, the more likely it is to become a long-lasting stain. To get rid of spills quickly, blot the area with a clean, dry cloth. You can also use a vacuum with the hose attachment to suck up small spills. And if you have kids or pets who like to eat off the floor, cover your carpets and floors with a protective rug runner or placemats.

Avoid carpet cleaning powders.

Avoid using carpet cleaning powders. Such powders seem like a quick fix. But in reality, the powder builds up and can damage your carpet further. Powders also make it hard for dirt to move off of the carpet, so you’ll have to keep reapplying them. Clean with detergent instead.: Instead of dusting with powder, clean your carpets with soap or detergent. You can mix these cleaners with water or vinegar (either will work) in a bucket and use a mop or other tool to scrub away stains from the rug. Rinse well afterward. Afterward, rinse the area thoroughly or use a special vacuum.

Schedule a professional carpet cleaning!

One of the best ways to keep your carpets clean is to schedule a professional cleaning. This way, you can be sure that all the dirt and grime will be removed from your carpets, leaving them looking and smelling fresh. Here are a few tips to help you choose a carpet cleaning company:

  • Get quotes from multiple companies. Get quotes from a few different companies so you can compare prices and services.
  • Check reviews online: A quick Google search will reveal a wealth of information about local carpet cleaning companies.

To summarize:

Scheduling a carpet cleaning is very valuable and will increase the lifespan of your carpets. You can also get a consultation to see if your carpets need to be replaced.

  • Buy a rug or mat for inside entrances.
  • Vacuum regularly.
  • Invest in cleaning supplies.
  • Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions when applying any product or service so there are no surprises (for example, some carpet cleaners require 24 hours before pets can return).
  • Schedule a professional carpet cleaning.

Additionally, scheduling a home cleaning with Cardinal Cleaning will also help lengthen the life of your carpets as we use top-notch products and vacuums to alleviate dust, grime, and stains!

5 Ways to Transform Your Home Into a Fall Wonderland

It’s officially fall, which means pumpkin spice lattes, crisp leaves, and seasonal decorations! If you’re looking to up your home decor game this fall, these five ways to transform your home into a fall wonderland are sure to impress. Let’s start decorating with a few tips from Cardinal Cleaning!

1) A Pop of Color

One of the easiest ways to change your decor for fall is to add a pop of color. This can be done with throw pillows, blankets, vases, or even just a few key pieces of art. You can also use this opportunity to switch out your light bulbs for warmer tones. It’s important to note that some people don’t enjoy the orange and yellow tones that most people associate with autumn so it’s good to play around and see what you like best. You can opt for neutral tones, duller maroons, and crispy oranges if you prefer!

2) A Touch of Pumpkin Spice

The first step to getting your home ready for fall is to add a touch of pumpkin spice. You can do this by burning scented candles, diffusing essential oils, or baking something delicious. Take a trip to Bath and Body Works for candles, or you can also explore the world of essential oils on sites like Young Living. Also, don’t forget the most important part of fall scents: food! Stock up on all of your favorite seasonal goodies so you can enjoy them all season long. Whether it’s pumpkin pie, cinnamon apple crisps, or just a good cup of coffee, these snacks will leave your stomach and your nose satisfied.

3) Create a Warm Vibe

As the days get shorter and the weather gets cooler, it’s time to start thinking about how to cozify your home for fall. Here are five ways to do it, while creating a warm and inviting feeling:

  1. Bring in some warm-colored throws and pillows. Think reds, oranges, and yellows.
  2. Put out a fall-scented candle or two. Scents like pumpkin spice, apple cider, and cinnamon will make your home feel warm and inviting.
  3. Swap out your light summertime curtains for heavier drapes in rich jewel tones.
  4. Rake up some leaves from your yard and put them in a big bowl on your coffee table or dining room table.
  5. Turn on the fireplace!
  6. Make smores!
  7. Invest in foot warmers to put near your couch.
  8. Or a weighted blanket!

4) Add Wreaths and Garland

Adding wreaths and garlands is an easy way to add some fall flare to your home. You can find these items at most craft stores or even make them yourself. You can pick fall foliage, like colorful leaves, sunflowers, berries, and so on. Adding some pumpkins, either real or fake, is also a great way to decorate for the fall season. You can put them on your porch, in your windows, or even inside your home. The pumpkins will last through Thanksgiving, as well! The hardest part about this project is deciding which pumpkins you want to buy! There are so many different styles, sizes, shapes, etc. The perfect pumpkin may be waiting for you just around the corner!

5) Halloween Decorations

Halloween is something you either love or can’t stand. For those of us who love the occasion – one of the best things about fall is getting to decorate your home for Halloween! You can go all out with spooky decorations, or keep it simple with some pumpkins and gourds. Either way, your home will be ready for trick-or-treaters! Here are a few ideas to get you started…

  1. Fake spider webs If you have big windows, cover them in spider webs. If not, layout sheets on the floor and sprinkle them with spiders. They’ll provide great visual effects without being too scary!
  2. Turn plants into jack o’lanterns. Gather up some giant vegetables such as squash and put a candle inside. Try alternating colors to make an even more festive display that still looks natural outside your door.
  3. Check out your local holiday store or even a thrift shop for more decoration! Try to reuse decorations to be sustainable this Halloween, and avoid cluttering your home!

5 Tips for an Organized Office

A messy office can have a negative impact on your productivity, your stress levels, and even your creative ability. If you want to keep your work environment clean and organized, these 5 tips and tricks from Cardinal Cleaning will help you stay organized and do your best work. Furthermore, these tips and tricks will elevate your productivity and mood!

1) Use baskets or bins!

Baskets and bins are great for organizing your desk. You can use them to store pens, paper, and other office supplies. Plus, they make it easy to find what you need when you need it. Here are a few tips for using baskets and bins to keep your office organized:

1. Get a few different sizes of baskets or bins. This way, you can store different items in different-sized containers. You can also get different sizes, shapes, and colors to spice things up and personalize your workspace.

2. You can have baskets based on different categories, and also one basket for miscellaneous items. This way, the mess will stay contained within that one basket. You can just dump it in that basket and go if you are in a hurry. Then, you can come back and find the proper place for the items when you have more time. Throughout, your desk and workspace will seem clean and organized.

3. Label each basket or bin. This will help you remember where you put things and make it easier to find what you need.

2) Create labels.

Speaking of labels, one way to keep your desk organized is by creating labels. This will help you know where everything is supposed to go and make it easier to put things away. You can use a label maker or just write on some masking tape. Be sure to label everything, including drawers, cabinets, and file folders.

3) Put things back where you got them from!

This next thing is arguably the most important! If you want to keep your office clean and organized, one of the most important things you can do is put things back where you got them from. That way, you know where everything is and you’re not constantly searching for things. Plus, it’ll save you time in the long run. Reorganizing the drawers on your desk or rearranging files on your shelf can be time-consuming. However, these tasks will take up much less time if you would just put things back where they go every day when you are done with them. You can allocate 5-10 minutes at the end of each work day or even each week to clean up and organize. This way, it never gets too disorganized and you do not have to start over every few months.

4) Invest in desk organizers.

A desk can quickly become cluttered and overwhelming, making it difficult to be productive. One way to combat this is to invest in some desk organizers. This can help you keep pens, papers, and other office supplies in their place and make it easier to find what you need when you need it. Plus, a tidy desk can help you feel less stressed and more capable of tackling your work.

Here are a few tips for choosing the right desk organizers for your needs:

1. Decide what you need to organize. Do you have a lot of papers that need a home? Are your pens constantly getting lost? Make a list of the items that are giving you trouble and look for organizers that will address those specific needs.

2. Consider your budget.

3. Decorate with the organizers! Desk organizers can double as organizational tools as well as decor. Invest in shelves or jars that match your aesthetic.

5) Decorate!

Finally, a clean and organized desk is the first step to having an organized office, but it doesn’t stop there. Decorating your desk with plants, photo frames, and other personal items can help you feel more at home in your workspace and make it more inviting to others. Plus, it’ll help you stay organized when things are constantly moving around on your desk.

Here are a few tips to get you started:

1. Start with a clean slate. Before you start decorating, make sure your desk is clean and free of clutter. This will help you have a clear vision of what you want your space to look like.

2. Find inspiration. Take some time to browse through magazines or Pinterest to find ideas for how you want to decorate your desk.

3. Bring it all together!

4 of Our Favorite One Pot Recipes to Try for Dinner

Making three meals at home a day is definitely rewarding, but it can also become tiring. After each meal, you have to put away ingredients and wash lots and lots of dishes. Don’t forget to wipe down the stove and counters! This process can quickly become a mundane part of your daily life. If you are looking to break this cycle, or just do fewer dishes, Cardinal Cleaning has got your back! We want to share four of our favorite one-pot recipes that you can try for dinner by linking and describing them below:

Enchilada Pasta

Enchilada Pasta is the perfect comfort meal after a long day! It is great fusion food, with Tex-Mex flavors, but can also be seasoned to taste. Grab your pot and let’s get started! Here is a list of the ingredients, but you can half or double the recipe as necessary and also change to your liking:

  • 4 cups pasta such as penne, elbow, or something similar in size
  • 4 cups vegetable broth or water
  • 1 15-ounce can of black beans, drained
  • 14 ounces of diced tomatoes
  • 2 medium peppers (red or yellow is recommended but any can work)
  • 1 cup of corn
  • 1 10-ounce can of enchilada sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning
  • Half cup shredded cheese (cheddar is recommended)

Other optional ingredients include cilantro leaves or lime wedges. You can also add meat if you have the time or prefer to. Personally, we like to add crushed tortilla chips on top, after cooking, for an extra crunch. You can also stuff this pasta into taco shells if you want to get creative!

Most pasta can be made in one pot if you are following a recipe and resourceful!

Fried Rice

Fried Rice is another great one-pot recipe. Furthermore, it is a quick way to knock out dinner while also incorporating vegetables into your diet. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 3 cups quick-cooking rice (such as Minute Rice)
  • 3 1/2 cups chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
  • 1 cup frozen green peas
  • 1/2 diced onion
  • 1/2 cup frozen diced carrots
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp sriracha (more or less to taste)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Green onions for garnish

The best thing about this recipe is that you can use any vegetables you have on hand. As long as the rice is well seasoned and fried properly, you will be able to use a variety of leftover produce and ensure your greens don’t go to waste! This is also a great way to clean out your kitchen and make room for fresh groceries while minimizing waste.

Chicken and Rice Soup

You probably remember drinking lots of chicken and rice or chicken and noodle soup when you were younger. These soups are light yet filling meals that are perfect for a one-pot recipe, especially if you or a loved one has caught a cold or other common seasonal sickness. Here are the ingredients for our favorite Chicken and Rice Soup recipe:

  • 2 bone-in chicken breasts, skin removed (1 to 1 1/2 pounds)
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice, like basmati
  • 2 ribs celery, diced small
  • 2 medium carrots, peeled and diced small
  • 1 onion, diced small
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled but left whole
  • 1 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste (see Recipe Note)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 quarts of unsalted or low-sodium chicken stock
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon (about 3 tablespoons)
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for serving

We also like to add peas sometimes. It is the perfect dinner for a sick day, cold winter evening, or really any time of the year!

Spicy Asian Chicken Noodles

On the note of combinations involving chicken and noodles, we can’t forget to mention these Spicy Asian Chicken Noodles! They really taste like to-go from a restaurant – except you’re saving money and cleaning time. Check out the ingredients that make this recipe so yummy:

  • 12 oz. dry linguine pasta or Asian noodle base
  • 1-quart chicken broth (preferably low sodium)
  • 5 cloves garlic – thinly sliced
  • 3 scallions – sliced down the middle, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 2 carrots – peeled and sliced, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 red pepper – sliced into strips 2 inches long
  • 1 small onion – thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup peanuts – crushed
  • 1 tbsp ginger – freshly grated
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 1 tbsp garlic chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Out of all of the recipes, we admit that this one has the most unique ingredients that you most likely may not have at home already. However, it is so worth making. If you prepare beforehand and get these sauces and spices in advance, you can make this recipe over and over again. You can also use the sauces and spices to vamp up any other dish and add an extra kick!

6 Ways to Beat the Heat and Stay Cool This Summer

Summertime is one of the most fun times of the year, but it’s also challenging if you live in a hot and humid climate. Georgians know what we’re talking about! Hottest summer on record? Take advantage of these six reminders from Cardinal Cleaning, so you can beat the heat and stay cool all summer long!

Invest in a mini fan.

A mini fan is a great way to beat the heat. It’s small, portable, and can fit in your purse or pocket. Plus, it’s a great way to stay cool when you’re on the go. Whether you’re waiting for your lunch order at Chipotle or just want to feel less hot while studying at Starbucks, this little device will help make it happen. They also come in a variety of sizes to meet your personal needs/ There are many reasons why people would choose one size over another. If you want something more compact that can easily be stored away in your bag during the day then a smaller model might be best. On the other hand, if you need something bigger to fill a larger space, then maybe the larger version would work better for you!

Freeze your own popsicles!

Freeze your own popsicles and enjoy a cool pick-me-up during the day! This hack is both more fun and more affordable than just buying them at the grocery store. Plus, you can even customize the popsicles based on your own favorite flavors or dietary needs.

1. Start with a classic popsicle mold or try a new shape!
2. Think beyond juice by adding in some finely cut fruit, yogurt, or even coffee for a morning pick-me-up.
3. Get creative with your flavors. Mix and match until you find the perfect combination.
4. Need some inspiration? Check out these flavor combinations: strawberry and banana, pineapple and coconut, mango and orange, berry blend, caramel coffee, etc.
5. Once you’ve got your popsicles made, pop them in the freezer.
6. Finally, enjoy the cool and refreshing treat on a hot summer day!

Stay hydrated.

It’s important to stay hydrated in the summer, especially when you’re spending time outdoors. Make sure to drink plenty of water and avoid sugary drinks. You can also try adding some fruits or vegetables to your water for a refreshing twist. Keep an eye on food and fluid intake. You can even incorporate fruits like watermelon or veggies like celery to get more healthy fluids in your system that way. Drink lots of fluids throughout the day to keep yourself hydrated as well as keep up with electrolytes like potassium which help regulate body temperature. You can also opt for Liquid IV or Gatorade for an extra boost of electrolytes!

Avoid caffeine and alcohol!

Hot weather can make us feel more anxious and irritable, so it’s important to avoid substances that can make these feelings worse. Caffeine and alcohol are both diuretics, which means they make you lose more water than you take in. They can also interfere with your body’s natural cooling mechanisms, making you feel even hotter. So instead of reaching for a cup of coffee or a beer, try to opt for water, infused water, fruit juices, smoothies, or electrolyte-filled drinks.

Take a trip to somewhere cooler

One way to beat the heat is to take a trip somewhere cooler. This could be the mountains, the beach, or even a water park. If you can’t get away, try visiting a local air-conditioned museum, shopping center, or indoor amusement park. You can even visit the library to get some reading in while you’re at it. Wherever you go, finding air conditioning and shade when possible may not only keep your body cool but also protect it from harmful UV rays.

Use sunscreen and other protective measures!

The sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays can damage your skin in as little as 15 minutes. To protect yourself, apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 to all exposed skin, including your lips, before you go outdoors. Reapply sunscreen every two hours, or more often if you’re swimming or sweating. Wear protective clothing, such as a long-sleeved shirt, pants, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses. And be sure to seek shade when the sun is at its strongest, typically between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Here at Cardinal Cleaning, we really do care about you and your wellness. Take note of these tips as we look out for you!

Kitchen & Restroom Cleaning Checklist: The Ultimate Guide

Having trouble remembering how often you should clean your kitchen or restroom? Not sure how to start cleaning the dirty areas that accumulate grime after every use? Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered with this handy checklist on kitchen and restroom cleaning. From the high-traffic surfaces to the deeper crevices, this list will help you remember everything, so you can keep your kitchen and restrooms tidy all the time.

A kitchen and a restroom are two things that we just cannot go without. Whether you are at your office or at your home, you know it is crucial to keep these areas clean and well-maintained. Check out Cardinal Cleaning’s kitchen and break area cleaning checklist, as well as the restroom checklist!

Kitchen & Break Area Cleaning

  1. Clean and disinfect the countertops, sink, and faucet.
The first step of cleaning your kitchen and break area is to ensure the surfaces are clean and disinfected. You’ll want to start by cleaning and disinfecting the countertops, sink, and faucet. This will help remove any dirt, grime, or bacteria that may be present. You can do this by using mild soap, warm water, and a sponge. Once you’ve cleaned the area, you’ll want to disinfect it by using an approved disinfectant. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions when using any cleaning products and avoid harsh bleaches when possible.
  2. Wipe down all small appliances.
Small appliances like toasters and blenders can get grimy quickly. To clean them, unplug them and wipe them down with a damp cloth. Don’t forget to clean the cords! For hard-to-reach spots, use a toothbrush or old toothbrush. The dishwasher is always convenient, but to really get a deep clean, wash all big pots and pans by hand once in a while. To start, fill up your sink with hot water and dish soap. Then, start with the biggest and dirtiest items first and work your way down to the smaller items. This will also increase the lifespan of the appliances that you have already invested in or installed.
  3. Spot clean exterior cabinets.
Spot clean the exterior of your cabinets. Use a mild soap and water solution, and be sure to rinse away any residue. Wipe down cabinet doors, knobs, and handles. If any grease or grime remains, you may need to use a degreaser. Again, be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions when using any cleaning products and be mindful of the surfaces you are working with. For example, some wood and its paint may be very sensitive. You can also research natural alternatives and create your own using ingredients like baking soda, vinegar, and lemons.
  4. Vacuum and mop floors edge to edge.
Next, you’ll want to vacuum and mop floors from edge to edge of the kitchen. This includes any hardwood, as well as nearby rugs. Be sure to get into all the corners and edges. Once the floors are vacuumed, you can move on to mopping. Start in one corner of the room and work your way around until the entire floor is clean.
  5. Restock supplies.
Restocking and replenishing after taking inventory of what you already have is a great idea. It helps make sure you have everything you need when you need it and avoids instances where you have to go to the grocery store to get one item immediately. For a kitchen and break room, you may want to restock a variety of items. This includes cleaning supplies like Bounty paper, napkins, towels, soap, and so on. This also includes disposable plates and any snacks you want to keep on hand.
  6. Empty the trash and replace the bag.
Afterward, take out the trash! Leaving trash to sit creates an unwanted odor so it is best practice to empty the trash and replace the bag after. Invest in quality, odor-cleaning trash bags for best results.
  7. And so much more!
It doesn’t stop there! There is always more to clean and keep up with in the kitchen. Stay tuned to our page for more tips and tricks, and look into booking a cleaning service with us to help!

Restroom Cleaning

  1. Clean and disinfect toilets and urinals.
Start by cleaning and disinfecting toilets and urinals. This will help remove any build-up of germs and bacteria. Next, scrub all surfaces with a disinfectant cleaner. Pay special attention to areas that are commonly touched, such as doorknobs, light switches, and faucets. Once you’ve finished scrubbing, rinse the surfaces with clean water. Finally, dry the surfaces with a clean towel or paper towel to prevent any streaks or water spots.
  2. Clean and disinfect counters, sinks, and backsplashes.
Again, keep cleaning and disinfecting surfaces! Counters, sinks, and backsplashes are spots you cannot miss.
  3. Clean and polish chrome, mirrors, and glass surfaces.
Start by dusting all surfaces with a clean, dry cloth. If there is any build-up on your chrome, mirrors, or glass surfaces, you can use a cleaning solution and a soft cloth to remove it. Next, using a clean, dry cloth (or a paper towel), wipe down all of the surfaces to remove any fingerprints or smudges. Once you’ve removed the surface dirt and grime, it’s time to polish your chrome, mirrors, and glass surfaces. To do this, you’ll need a polishing solution and a soft cloth. Apply the polishing solution to the surface and then use the soft cloth to buff it in circular motions until it’s shiny and streak-free. Make sure you are using an approved solution that will not wear down or harm your surfaces or your health.
  4. Empty the trash and restock supplies.
Again, the restroom trash can also needs to be emptied. This room needs to be restocked, too. Double-check to make sure you have soap, towels, toilet paper, and so on. You can also invest in candles or air fresheners, as well as nice lotion, to elevate your space and restroom experience.
  5. Sweep and vacuum floors.
Next, get out a broom and a vacuum – or even a Swiffer sweeper. By sweeping or vacuuming the floor thoroughly, you will be able to get rid of any big pieces of dirt or debris. Pay special attention to corners and tight spaces where dirt likes to accumulate. Once you’ve vacuumed, it’s time to move on to mopping.
  6. Mop hard floor surface areas.
Finally, mop the floor (if necessary) to finish up your cleaning routine. In order to mop a hard floor surface area, you will need the following items: a bucket, a mop, a cleaning solution, and a towel. Fill the bucket with warm water and the cleaning solution of your choice. Wet the mop in the bucket and wring it out. Begin mopping the floor in small sections, working your way from one side of the room to the other. Be sure to rinse the mop in the bucket frequently. Once you have finished mopping, try to avoid stepping on the floor surface and let it air dry. Use a gentle towel to dry any remaining wet spots.
  7. And so much more!
Again, our cleaners are prepared to make sure we go the extra mile and check the “so much more” box on this list. You can book a cleaning appointment just one time to try it out, and also do weekly, biweekly, or monthly cleanings based on your schedule. This will ensure your home and office kitchen and restroom are always welcoming and well stocked.

How to Get Your Entire Home Organized

Tidying up and organizing your home will help keep you and the members of your household organized. Having everything in its place will help prevent a cluttered home. An organized home decreases stress, as you will be able to look around your home without feeling overwhelmed. An organized and decluttered home also makes it easier to maintain a cleaner home.

Many people try to organize their homes but get stuck or give up when things feel overwhelming. As a room gets messy, it may seem too difficult to clean it up and get it back in order. However, getting every room in your house organized doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Check out the following tips to get organized in every room of your home:

For the Living Room

  • Start with a clean slate – Wipe down all surfaces, and clean the floors. Cleaning and wiping down every inch of furniture, floors, walls, windows, handles, baseboards and moldings all make a living room look and feel better. Cleaning isn’t just about wiping sticky residue from surfaces. It’s a process, but not impossible to do.
  • Eliminate clutter by getting bins – Eliminate all unnecessary items, such as old papers, magazines, toys, and clothing. Once you’ve cleared out space, use bins to organize those miscellaneous items. Buy a bin for each room of your home—extra storage for the kitchen, bins for toys, bins for toys, bins for photos, etc. Then label each bin so that everything has a place, so you can find what you’re looking for easily.

For the Kitchen

  • Clean out the fridge – Schedule a time to sort through the fridge, throwing out anything you know you won’t use, and things that are expired. Throw out anything that is old or hidden in the back and forgotten about.
  • Storage for Papers & Coupons – If your kitchen is where you sort the mail and pay the bills, consider installing a small desk or side table for a mail bin. It will help keep the papers off of the table and countertops.

For the Pantry

  • Label your spices – Spices add flavor to food, but they do expire. Be sure to pay attention to the expiration date and throw out what is old. When properly stored, spices and herbs can last from 1-3 years.
  • Store it in clear containers – Clear containers that let you see the contents of your pantry and fridge are one of the easiest ways to organize your pantry. This lets you easily see which food you have and what you still need. Store your food in containers with airtight seals to keep your food fresh for longer.

For the Laundry Room

  • Add storage areas for each family member – Your laundry room is a busy place. It has to store clothing, detergents, and other supplies. Dedicate a basket for all your extra cleaning cloths, such as rags, towels, and old clothes. Make sure that you take inventory of old cleaning supplies, empty bottles, or old clothes that are hiding in baskets. Discard or donate what you don’t need.
  • Designate a basket for the “missing” items – To get your laundry room organized, start by designating a basket just for those missing socks, mittens, matching belts, etc. These special items tend to get lost, so designate a place to put them, and you will never have to search for them again.

For the Bedroom

  • Go through your clothes and sort what needs to be sorted – Getting your bedroom organized is no easy task. It’s full of old clothes, unworn jewelry, and clothes that no longer fit. But, by going through your clothes and getting rid of items you don’t need, you can save space and declutter your room. Plus, donating gently used items to a charity allows you to get rid of items that may take up space in your closet, like old or faded clothes.
  • Use the space under your bed frame – Take advantage of the space under your bed frame for seasonal clothes that take up closet space. That space usually becomes littered with random items, so you need a way to organize it. This is easy to do with under-the-bed storage bins. These storage bins are easy to move under your bed, so you can access them without having to pull the entire bed frame apart.

For the Bathroom

  • Decide where everything goes – The bathroom is a small space, so you have to think carefully about where items go and what doesn’t. While it may seem obvious that toilet paper rolls, razors, and soap go in the bathroom, some other common bathroom items may surprise you. Get rid of the clutter that’s littering your bathroom—and everywhere else—to get a fresh start on organizing. Open your bathroom cabinet, linen closet, and bathroom storage areas, and get rid of all the junk.
  • Get rid of anything that’s expired, unused, broken, or that you no longer need – Then go through your bathroom drawers and cabinets, purge anything you don’t need, or find sentimental value, such as a bracelet from your sister’s wedding. This will not only make your bathroom more organized, but it will also help free up space to make room for more cleaning products, towels, and more.

For the Office

  • Learn how to set up a filing system – Knowing which documents to keep and can trash or shred is one of the key tips. Next are the cables and wires scattered from routers, printers, and laptops. Investing in several file sorters can help keep your desk space organized. Additionally, investing in a small desktop printer can help clear up some space so you can use your desktop space more effectively.
  • Focus on maximizing space through shelving – Shelving is one of the easiest and most effective ways to maximize space. Shelving is a simple way to store excess paper, reference materials, and office supplies. However, if you opt to purchase shelving, make sure to get the kind that can be easily adjusted according to your needs.

If you have ever engaged in a clean-up process after a major event, you already know that organizing and packing can be just as hard as cleaning out the house. But before you turn your life upside down, take the time to schedule a professional cleaning company to finish the job. A cleaning company such as Cardinal Cleaning can take the headache out of organizing and packing by tackling the cleaning, leaving you free to get on with more important things.
